The United States Marine Corps uses another variant of the Remington 700, which they designated the M40. The main difference from the rifle used by the Marines is that the Army s M24 has a modified bolt to fire more powerful cartridges than those fired by the M40. The M24 is considered a weapons system because it s not just the rifle itself but also includes other components such as the telescopic sight. This weapon is also used by the Israel Defense Forces and others.
