Surrender and Serve

A full overhaul of the original Surrender V mod, rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper, more authentic busted experience that mirrors vanilla GTA V, with additional features.

Why Remade
The former codebase was riddled with issues that made updates a nightmare. This clean rewrite is faster, easier to maintain, and feature-rich enough to stand on its own.

Key Features
Custom Busted System: Completely re-engineered surrendering, companions can surrender too (≥ 1 star).
Community Service: At 2 stars, pay your debt by cleaning litter, from three different locations.
Full Trial System: Face the judge, hear the verdict, then accept your sentence, or walk free.
Prison Gameplay: Sentence length scales with the wanted level you surrendered at (With the option to bail out early).
Smarter Chases Compatibility: Still in progress.
Controller Support: Fully remappable.

Installation
Drop the dll, pdb, and ini files in the scripts folder

How to Surrender
Surrender is enabled once you reach at least 1 star.
Press X (keyboard) or FrontendRight / FrontendCancel (controller)

v1.0 (Release)

Bounty Hunting System (Major Feature)

New per-star bounty values: $500 per star tier with cumulative totals, replacing flat multipliers.
Dynamic hunter escalation: Bounty severity unlocks different factions (thugs → mercs → Merryweather).
Crime-driven growth: Bounty increases as you commit crimes while wanted (with or without BC+).
XML persistence: Bounties survive game save/reload cycles.
HUD display: Real-time bounty amount visible on the timer bar.
Improved capture mechanics:
Tasers fire while hunters advance (not from a standstill).
On-foot hunters can tackle you at melee range, subduing you into arrest.

Death handling: Hunters despawn when you die mid-chase; bounty remains owed.

Better Chases+ Deep Integration

Per-chase crime reset: Crime-flag counting resets when BC+ swaps to a new chase, fixing crime ghosting.
Per-kill bounty credit: Individual kills credited per body, in addition to BC+ type flags.
Chase state detection: Uses BC+’s chase object reference to detect new wanted episodes.

Transport & Vehicle Entry Improvements

Player now enters police vans through whichever rear passenger door is open or nearest (not always rear-left).
Entry is animated (player walks up and climbs in) instead of fade-to-black.
Officer positioning adapts to the chosen door.

UI & Message Cleanup

Removed transport status hints (“Stay down…”, “…transported to Mission Row”).
Removed debug notifications and bounty flavor text.
Removed prison/jail timer notifications and escape objective hints.
Removed “Bounty increased” feed messages (HUD bar shows growth instead).

Reworked Companion Surrendering

Companions now surrender alongside you when caught by bounty hunters, respecting your arrest profile.

RDE Compatibility

Full support for Real Dispatch Enhanced and custom max-wanted-level mods.
Bounty severity and hunter waves scale appropriately with extended star tiers.

Surrender-Only Mode (Optional)

New setting to disable bounty hunters entirely and rely solely on vanilla police response.
All other mod features (transport, custody, booking) remain active.

v0.9 (The Big One)

Added a new Settings / Debug menu.
Toggle major features directly in-game.
Added debug tools for testing jail, prison, lockpicking, outfits, and custody flows.

Added Jail Escape.
You now have a chance to receive a lockpick when jailed.
Added a cell-door escape route from the Mission Row holding cell.
Added a new lockpick minigame.

Added Prison Escape.
Added a separate prison transport escape sequence.
You can begin an escape from the prison menu.

Added Surrender AI / custody improvements.
Police now surround the player more naturally when they surrender.
Added police transport for when the player surrenders.
Disabled companion surrender handling for release stability.

v0.6: Better Chases Plus Integration & Update

New Features
Better Chases Plus Detection: The mod now automatically detects whether Better Chases Plus is installed. You no longer need to use a separate version of the mod for compatibility.
Community Service: You can now perform community service while in prison to earn early release.

Improvements
Improved online player outfits: Gloves and masks will now be automatically removed.

Bug Fixes
Players will now fully heal upon being arrested.

v0.55
Additions
You can now force surrender by holding the surrender key/buttons.
Arrested characters will now have their clothes changed automatically. Supports Michael, Trevor, Franklin, and both MP Male and Female.

Changes
Replaced the trash object due to the previous one being restricted to GTA Online. (May be restored later.)
Improved notification prompts to display the correct input for both controllers and keyboards.
Significant updates to the Better Chases Plus version, it’s now almost fully compatible.

Bug Fixes
Improved overall controller support.
